How pricing works
Rugs differ, so we give a number only after we have seen yours. Here is how that goes.
What decides the price
Rugs are priced by their size and what they need, not by the room.
Size, measured both ways
What it is made of, and how it was made
Condition: soil, pet stains, dyes that run, fringe or edge wear
Distance from Manayunk
Whether you need it back by a date
What the estimate includes, and what it doesn't
A written estimate lists the wash, the pickup and return, and any treatment we expect. It leaves out repairs, which we quote after inspection, and storage.
What happens at pickup
The driver measures and photographs the rug on your floor. The real inspection follows at the workshop, and the photographs come to you.
If the job changes
If inspection finds something that changes the work, we stop, send photographs and a revised written estimate, and wait for your yes.
How and when you pay
Payment is due when the rug comes back, by card or check. If a repair needs an outside restorer, the estimate says who, and when they are paid.
When you get the number
The first number comes in writing by the next business day after you send photographs and a rough size. The final number is confirmed after inspection, before we wash.
A walk-through
A 9 by 12 wool rug, one dog, a coffee ring and a frayed corner.
No figure here, because no two rugs are alike. These are the five things we ask before we write one.
Its size
Measured both ways. Cost follows square feet more than anything else.
What it is made of
Wool, a silk blend, cotton, hand-knotted or machine-made.
Where it has been
Pets, spills, sun, a basement. The coffee ring and the dog corner go here.
Its fringe and edges
The frayed corner is a repair, quoted apart from the wash.
When you want it back
Our usual time is two to three weeks. A date inside that is a rush.
